Tours and Angers: Visit

Tours and Angers: Visit to the levee system and Nature-based Solutions

Marie Fournier and Mathieu Bonnefond welcomed Anna Serra-Llobet in Angers to show her the 3 nature-based solutions projects studied by the research project.

Hosted by Marie Fournier and  Mathieu Bonnefond (Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers – Le Mans), Anna Serra-Llobet visited the levee system downstream Tours, in the Loire and the Cher Rivers, as well as three multi-benefit projects in Angers: Ile Saint Aubin, a vast area of flood expansion located upstream of the urban area, Park Balzac, a peri-central urban park in the south of the city, developed in the early 2000s, which was designed to promote synergies between the preservation of natural environments and biodiversity and flood risk management, and a new urban park in the heart of downtown Angers, in the Cœur de Maine district (left bank of the Maine), which includes green infrastructure projects to reduce urban runoff.
